CHRSD Launches Third Youth Climate Fellowship Cohort

The 2026 Youth Climate Fellowship cohort — CHRSD's third since the program launched in 2020 — begins on September 15 with an in-person orientation in Dhaka.

This year's 96 fellows were selected from a record 2,400 applications, up from 1,500 last year. Fellows come from 24 of Bangladesh's 64 districts, including six who are the first from their district to be selected. Sixty-two percent of the cohort are women, and the average age is 23.

"The demand tells us something important," said Nusrat Jahan, who runs the fellowship. "Young people know the climate crisis is theirs to inherit, and they are ready to lead. Our job is to give them the tools, the network, and the platform."

Fellows receive a monthly stipend, a laptop, campaign toolkits, and mentorship from CHRSD staff and alumni. The cohort will conclude with participation in the South Asia Youth Climate Summit in March.
