CHRSD Statement on Draft Cyber Security Act Amendments

CHRSD, together with 47 other Bangladeshi civil society organizations, has signed a joint statement expressing serious concerns about the draft amendments to the Cyber Security Act currently under consideration.

Specific concerns include:

• Vague definitions of "harmful content" that risk restricting legitimate journalism and civic advocacy
• Expanded surveillance powers without adequate judicial oversight
• Insufficient safeguards for whistleblowers reporting corruption
